This Weeks Releases 3.10.10

Welcome to the first of our weekly releases post, every Wednesday/Thursday we will be announcing the movies set to open as of the coming Friday.

Deacon
Before we get to our chubby cousins from across the waters we thought we'd start on these shores, brought to you by the good folks at Revolver entertainment and directed by Sacha Bennett is 'Bonded by Blood'.

This film staring Danny Dyer's bezzie mate Tamer Hassan and Noel Clarke favourite Adam Deacon, is set in mid 90's Essex and charts the rise and fall of drug suppliers Tony Tucker, Patrick Tate and Craig Rolfe.

Next up is the horror-thriller Cherry Tree Lane, which is directed by the director of 'The Cottage' Paul Andrew Williams.

This film centres around a young professional couple, Mike and Christine who are living a normal - if not mundane - existence when they find out their son Sebastian is in a little trouble with some local boys who proceed to camp outside the house waiting for their son to get home.

Film Poster
Next Across the channel we have the French '22 Bullets' staring the legendary Jean Reno of Leon fame.

Known by our French friends as L'Immortel this film sees the main character Charly Matteï who is leaving his past as an outlaw behind devoting himself to his wife and two kids. However his old life comes back to haunt him when he is left for dead with 22 Bullets in his body.

I'm sure you know what happens next .......... that's right it's revenge time.

On to the bigger films and next is the release of Jennifer 'I lost to Angelina Jolie' Aniston and the sometimes funny Jason Bateman.

We don't want to give away too much of the plot for those of you dying to see this film so we'll try to tread carefully.

Wally (Bateman) is best friends with Kassie (Aniston) but has unrequited feelings for her but finds himself in the friend zone. Kassie is brooding and really wants a baby, so she enlists the *cough* produce of a charming fella by the name of Roland (Patrick Wilson).

However during her insemination party (we've never heard of those either) Wally gets super drunk and spills the cup of *cough* produce, so what do you think he does next?

Zach Galifianakis
Continuing with the laughs we have Dinner for Schmucks staring the 'i guess he funny' Paul Rudd, the ridiculously hilarious Steve Carell and the outstanding performer of 'The Hangover' Zach Galifianakis.

Financial executive Tim Conrad (Rudd) acquires a negotiation over special novelty lamps with wealthy a Swiss businessman and as a result he is invited by his boss to a 'dinner for winners'. Guests of this dinner are required to bring a guest who is eccentric and special and Tim soon realises his is a dinner to mock and belittle the so called special guests, however most "special" guest wins a trophy and the person who brought him/her gets glory.

A whole lot of fun any hilarity ensues, so we won't get into the story anymore so we don't spoil your viewing experience.

John Malkovich

Now we have another of the comic-turned-movie.... erm movies, this time coming from the stables of DC Comics. We have Jonah Hex.

Staring Josh Brolin (American Gangster, No Country For Old Men) as the title character who fights for the confederacy during the American civil war, he goes against his commanding officer Quentin Turnbull played by the talented John Malkovich by saving a hospital killing Turnbull's son in the process.

Filled with vengence Turnbull sends his right hand man to burn down Hex's home with his wife and son inside and brands his face with the initials QT. Hex is revived days later by Native Americans with mystical powers (oooooooooh) which makes Hex both living and dead.

Eli Roth
Finally we have The Last Exorcism (dum dum duuuuuuuuuuum). This film directed by Daniel Stamm(never heard of him either) is co-written by the Sylar look alike Eli Roth, the man behind the gruesome but ultimately pointless Hostel.

This horror mockumentary follows Reverend Cotton Marcus who has been performing exorcisms on countless individuals in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

He suffers a crisis of faith when he reads of a child with autism (an illness his own son has) that is killed during an exorcism and comes to the realisation all the healing he previously thought came from God actually comes from science.

So as he decided to reluctantly undertake his last exorcism he allows a film crew to document the whole thing, and sees some things that makes him think twice about the newfound belief in science.

So ladies and gentlemen there you have it, there's a lil something for all this coming weekend.

Happy Viewing
